Eleanor Barreau
Eleanor graduated in June 2011 from BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, London.The women that feature in her paintings are savvy, sharp, intelligent and successful. For her they are an exploration into the representation of women in the media The artist is interested in observing and analysing how advertising portrayed women of the 80’s.
Her work comprises many elements, spanning a mixture of sources co-existing into a single image. Her compositions are uncanny at points filled with deliberate whimsy and thoughtful interventions evolved into an almost focused and unachievable illusion. Her fixation on female aesthetics and the extent to which beautiful women, and men, still dominate advertising imagery makes these paintings interesting and a great focus for debate.
